Alquilar una habitación o un piso / Renting a room or flat
La mayoría prefiere alquilar una habitación en un piso compartido con otros estudiantes.
Most people prefer renting a room in a flat shared with other students. (Please note that, unlike other countries, most people in Spanish cities live in flats. Houses are much more difficult to find within an affordable price range).

Colegios Mayores / University halls of residence
Los Colegios Mayores de la UCM no suelen tener plazas para estudiantes que solo vayan a estar un curso o un semestre. No obstante, puede haber alguna habitación disponible para estancias cortas (como solución temporal, mientras buscas tu alojamiento definitivo). Consulta las siguientes páginas:
UCM halls of residence usually have no vacancies for students who are coming to Madrid for just one year or one semester. However, they may have rooms available for daily/weekly stays (as a temporary solution, while you make other arrangements). Please check the following websites:
Programa CONVIVE / Living with an elderly person
El programa CONVIVE permite que un estudiante universitario viva en casa de una persona mayor durante el curso académico. Las personas mayores del programa se valen por sí mismas para la vida cotidiana, aunque prefieran contar con apoyo y compañía en su casa. Los jóvenes universitarios comparten las tareas y los gastos en el domicilio de la persona mayor.
The CONVIVE programme allows a university student to live with an elderly person during the academic year. The older people in the program fend for themselves in daily life, although they prefer to have support and company at home. Young university students share the chores and expenses in the elderly person's home.
